The collaboration of two Montenegrin musicians who have been on the scene for a long time and who have crossed their creative talents countless times finally got a visual form. Masturbator ii Wicked Ras have released a new single called "Lightning Speed" with an accompanying music video.
Two months after the previous collaboration on the songs "Take a Stand" and "Like Witches", Masturbeator once again gave birth to a characteristically hard beat dominated by a guitar riff as a basis for the poetic lyrics of Wicked Ras, the pseudonym behind Braco Subotić, who is also known to the audience as the frontman. Podgorica rock group Vrpca.
"Given that we are separated and create songs remotely, and we have been talking about any kind of music video for a long time, this low-budget approach turned out to be ideal in the end. Lidija Petrić, who shot all the shots with Braco, did a great job as camera operator. All his shots were recorded on my phone. For these few moments, my brother Vasilije stepped in and recorded additional material," said Andrija Krivokapić aka Masturbator, who is known to local hip hop fans. and as Dvorska luda, a member of the Barska stoka collective.
That they are on the same wavelength is shown by the fact that these two veterans of the underground scene have been successfully collaborating for a decade and a half, mixing their fingers in several musical genres during that period. The new song is characterized by a darker sound, as is usually the case when it comes to the works of Masturbeater, so it is not surprising that the producer from Bar describes "Light Speed" as an audio-visual dystopia.
"The energy and subject matter of the song served as inspiration for the post-production of the photo, and I aimed to make everything look like we were both in a dimly lit 'nuclear shelter', deep underground while chaos unfolded on the surface," he explained.
It can already be said that 2024 is fruitful for both authors. In addition to the mentioned joint songs, Masturbeator released the tapes "Experiment" and "Truth or Dare", along with several remixes, while Subotic with Vrpca recently released the mini-album "Ne stopici san", and as Wicked Ras the single "Ti samo biraj". They announce that they will continue to create together.
"While we were working on the video, we are already deep in the process of creating new songs," said Masturbeator.
