For several years, the capital of Montenegro has been recognized for numerous cultural events, one of which is the international festival "Guitar Days in Podgorica", which is being held for the ninth time.
This year's edition has a different concept, and will last from November 12 to 30. The opening itself will bring a completely different experience of the guitar, and tonight in the big hall of the KIC "Budo Tomović" will perform from 20:XNUMX p.m. Leonardo Traeger guitarist from Mexico. On the same evening, from 20 hours and 45 minutes, a duo of voice and guitar will be presented Tamara Obrovac i Uroš Rakovec. The concert program continues on November 26 in the large hall of KIC "Budo Tomović" when two duets are presented, the first from Italy at 20 p.m. on classical and electric guitar Roberto Fabbri i Fabio Macera, and right after them, a 20- and 45-year-old duo from Spain on classical guitar and piano Carles Pons i Jose Manuel Cuenca. The concert program ends on November 30 in the Dodest KIC hall "Budo Tomović" from 20 p.m. with a solo concert by a classical guitarist. Dražen Joković from Montenegro, and after him, from 20 and 45, duo harmonica and classical guitar perform Marko Hatlak from Slovenia and Darko Bageski from Macedonia.
Unlike previous years, when the program lasted day after day, this year there will be breaks of up to several days between concerts, and the director of this event, Montenegrin guitarist Srđan Bulatović, explains that they came up with this idea because "the audience can follow one or two concert programs evenings".
"After that, everyone wants to hear and see something else. I think this concept of the concert program is good, because the festival lasts the whole month, and the audience can then follow more concerts and accompanying events at the festival", he is sure.
It's not just the gap between the concerts that made a turn when it comes to the program. This year, part of it is also dedicated to the electric guitar. About how much guitar festivals that are mainly focused on classical music must open the door to other genres as well, Bulatović says:
“They must or should be open to guitar or guitar music and all musical genres. On the one hand, we have education in classical music schools, but I think that we also need to show what can be done on the guitar, without it being available to the official education system. This is exactly why we often have surprises, and one of them will be at the very opening of the festival on November 12. We will have a completely non-standard guitarist Leonard Traeger from Mexico, who will play both popular and his own compositions on an unusual ambidextrous electric guitar with two doors and at the same time on a classical one. It will be a kind of spectacle, not only among the guitar world, but also the audience. And right after him on the same evening, Tamara Obrovac and Uroš Rakovec will be no less interesting with their unique program. The opening will be a real musical exclusive, both for the general audience and musicians," Bulatović is sure.
In addition to the concert program, master workshops and lectures will be held at the "Vasa Pavić" Music School at the festival, and already today fans of this instrument will be able to hear about the ambidextrous guitar with two doors from a guest from Mexico at 12 noon, while on November 18 at in the same place and at the same time, a distinguished guitar teacher will give a lecture Vera Ogrizović. As part of the educational program, a lecture by Darko Bageski on the topic "Typology of teaching and emotional intelligence in the development of musicians" will be held, and Bulatović notes that this will be a particularly interesting segment.
"Listening to music determines us in childhood to want to do it. In the beginning, these are light popular forms, through which you enter the world of music, and then you begin to discover its other layers until you reach the artistic one. It is a long-term process. The interesting lecture, which will be held by professor Darko Bageski from Skopje, will encourage young guitarists, who enter the professional waters of art music, to find themselves, their own expression, to find their own emotional intelligence. Many remain under the influence of authority, and never find and develop it. This lecture will be desirable for all musicians to hear, not only guitarists", concludes Bulatović.
