Although in a slightly different format, this year's Nikšić Guitar Festival will gather numerous guitarists and lovers of classical guitar music in the town under Trebjes.
The organizers announce that the 19th edition of the Nikšić Guitar Festival will begin on November 26, when the first round of the international competition for guitarists in the solo and professional categories will actually be held. The first phase of the competition will be held online, while the finalists will compete for valuable prizes during the live telecast on Nikšić Television. In addition to the competition, numerous masterclasses will also be organized this year, as well as an unusual guitar exhibition, it was announced in the press release.
"This year's edition is a kind of collaboration with the traditional International Guitar Competition (MIGC), which, through joint activities in several Montenegrin cities, has been actively contributing to the promotion of classical guitar performance and creativity for almost two decades, bringing together a large number of young talents, but also experienced performers, as well as an audience that has grown up and gathered around these festivals for years. This year, the focus is on the competition, which will be held in two stages. The first stage will be held online, on November 26, 2024, when the performances of the placed candidates, recorded in accordance with the proposals, in the solo and professional categories, will be broadcast on the YouTube channel and Facebook page of the Montenegro International Guitar Competition. The final of the competition will be held on December 14, as part of a live broadcast from the studio of the newly opened RTV Nikšić", the organizers explain.
Contestants are fighting for valuable prizes, the announcement added.
"This year, for the winner, it is a gift of a guitar from a famous builder Andreas Marvi in the value of 9.500 euros. A guitar is intended for the runner-up Dimitrisa Piperidis, in the value of 6.000 euros. The third prize is free participation in Transylvania International Guitar Festival 2025 and Montenegro International Guitar Competition 2025. Anyone interested in participating can apply until November 19 at midnight, in accordance with the instructions and regulations, which, along with the application form, can be found on the website guitarmontenegro.com", say the organizers.
In addition to the competition part, a series of masterclasses will be held for all those interested, and visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy an unusual exhibition of handmade guitars.
The festival is organized by the NGO "Anagstum Guitar Society" in partnership with RTV Nikšić, under the patronage of the Municipality of Nikšić and with the support of guitar builders and long-time friends of the festival, Andres Marvi and Dimitris Piperidis.
