Pulitzer Prize-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar suddenly released a new album called "GNX".
Lamar announced the release of the album with a one-minute video, after which 12 songs from the album became available on digital platforms.
His sixth studio album features multiple collaborations with SZA as well as Kamasi Washington, while Jack Antonoff has produced all but one track. Earlier this week, DJ Snake claimed that Taylor Swift would also appear on the album, but that didn't happen.
The album caps off an extremely successful year for Lamar, during which he released several songs aimed at Canadian hitmaker Drake. Those songs, which became big hits, earned him as many as seven Grammy nominations. Lamar achieved great success on the charts with the songs "Not Like Us" and "Like That".
However, the new album does not include any of the previously released songs from this year, but does include the track "Heart Pt 6," following Drake's May release of a song titled "The Heart Part 6," directly aimed at Lamar's famous series of songs, "The Heart".
In addition to releasing a new album, Lamar has been confirmed to perform at halftime of the next Super Bowl.
His previous album, 2022's Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, was named Best Rap Album at the Grammy Awards. Lamar also became the first artist outside of classical and jazz music to win a Pulitzer Prize for music, thanks to his 2017 album "Damn."
