The band Nichim chalak is known for not leaving the audience without new musical stories for a long time. This year they have already pleased the fans with two singles, and the last one, "Ipak svetlo", was presented last month. The track is signed by the singer Boris Bakalov, and brings the recognizable sound of the band, and he is satisfied with the reactions to it.

"The topic is specific and addresses a special, and yet, in my opinion, a large group of people. The song gets its life slowly, shyly, and yet it reaches the right people based on the reactions. We managed to startle someone and perhaps make the day a little brighter and turn it in a nicer and more positive direction", says Bakalov at the beginning of the interview with Vijesti.

Lately, the members of the band Nichim unchallenged have not hesitated to experiment with the sound, occasionally releasing "harder" tracks, including "Bad Bay" and "Bože kako si". By doing so, they showed that they are ready to explore new musical territories, but it is precisely such "excursions", Bakalov claims, that do not confuse loyal fans, but rather show them the band's rich musical oeuvre thanks to such songs.

"I wouldn't call it experimentation. We always talk about how songs kind of make their own form. That's the case for all the songs we've ever made. None of us feel the same way every day. Some days we are happy, some days we are nervous, some days we are angry, sometimes we don't really feel like talking to anyone, sometimes we would hang out with someone... Our songs depict our honest feelings so that they are also different from each other. The only thing we stick to is that we don't lie or deceive the people who listen to us, whether they liked it at first glance or not," explains the interlocutor of Vijesti.

The new single "Ipak svetlo", as he himself said, brings a characteristic theme, and can be interpreted in several ways - as a song about acceptance, togetherness, but also depression and the fact that those who struggle with depression wear masks and the environment often has nothing don't notice. It is not always easy to "bare the soul" through songs, and Boris reveals what inspired him to write these verses and what story he wanted to tell:

"I was inspired by a very close person who was going through a very difficult period in his life. Unfortunately, there are too many such stories. It often happens that these people are ashamed to complain even to their closest ones and then things go really bad - in the worst direction. Empathy is important, it is important to be open-eyed and open-hearted. When we think we don't have the strength, we just need to turn around and look for help, but also to offer that help to those who need it," he advises.

Many people today live fake lives, and they fake it all the best thanks to social networks. The fact that we are all "happy", "smiling", "traveling" creates depression for someone, but it also deceives us, Bakalov believes.

"In the first place, we deceive ourselves. If everyone were as happy as they are on social networks, this world would be a dream place. How is it that we open daily portals and newspapers and there we see horrors and disasters, and then we open Instagram and there flowers are blooming for everyone? Something is not right here. Life is a mix of beautiful and not so beautiful things and it should be lived offline, with your families and friends. Social networks are used to earn money. When they say, "If something is free, then you are the product," I really think it's true. Let's not be a product, let's be people," says Bakalov.

Public figures are expected to always be in a good mood, smiling, singing, which creates a lot of pressure for many. It is known that many public figures struggle with depression, so they showed their fans the darker side of their personality. Boris was once a successful volleyball player, and for more than a decade he has managed to cope with popularity through music. When asked how much all that image that is created sometimes manages to deceive them even when the masks fall, Bakalov reveals:

"Although our popularity is not even close to the level of some big stars, it can certainly be called the dark side of the coin in dealing with music. Each of us fantasizes about world fame, but no one would actually like what it brings in addition to that fame and money. So far, we have been lucky to have only experienced the good side of popularity, because we have managed to gather wonderful, cultured, well-mannered people around our music, so it is not that difficult to be 'popular' in this way. To a large extent, what our fans see at our concerts and other public appearances are very close to our character outside of that whole public part".

Bakalov is surrounded by the audience at every performance. However, there are moments when he feels lonely despite all that, and he shared how he struggles with such moments:

"Such moments happen, of course. The older I get, I think I'm smarter in dealing with such moments and emotions of that guy. In my opinion, everything comes from our head, and since it is our head, we are the ones who can take the helm when things go wrong. I allow loneliness to remind me from time to time. I use such moments to 'reset' myself and remind myself of who and what I am and who and what means to me in life. And such moments are useful. Even negative energy is energy and it is my decision to channel it towards some positive things", advises the interlocutor of Vijesti.

Lack of private space and constant public surveillance can also create a lot of pressure. However, somehow all the members of the band Nichim unchallenged managed to maintain their privacy, apart from the fact that he and his bandmate are Bojan Gluvajic once volleyball players, today successful musicians, not much is known about their private lives. Although nowadays it is not easy to keep private life from the public eye, Bakalov points out that they never revealed more about themselves to the audience than they needed to know.

"Maybe I'm wrong, but I think that many public figures also use their private lives for marketing purposes, which is distasteful to me, to say the least. We have never given concrete answers to such questions, nor any reason for someone to continue digging into privacy. The public figure himself has a great responsibility. "None of that has to happen if that person doesn't allow it," concludes Bakalov.

Each of us fantasizes about world fame, but no one would actually like what it brings in addition to that fame and money. So far, we have been lucky to have experienced only the good side of popularity, because we have managed to gather wonderful, cultured, well-mannered people around our music, so it is not that difficult to be 'popular' in this way.
