The KIC pop choir, which in just a few months of its existence has gathered about 70 lovers of music and polyphonic singing, will have a concert tonight at 20 pm in the Great Hall of the Podgorica KIC Budo Tomović.
"For our first concert, I made a 'musical time machine' suitable for all generations, which includes music from the 50s all the way to this modern one from the XNUMXst century. During the selection, I tried to make the choir enjoy the songs, so I hope that they will easily transfer that energy to the audience, because I am always guided by the fact that if the performers enjoy a repertoire that is suitable for everyone, the audience will like it", he said. Saša Barjaktarović, conductor of the choir, which was created on the initiative of KIC director Snežana Burzan and several of her friends.
"A dozen of us former members of the children's choirs Maksim Gorki, Suncokrili, Stanko Dragojević, as well as our friends who also like to sing, spontaneously talked over coffee about the possibility of creating a choir that is different from the academic or city Stanko Dragojević, whose majority we were or we are still members. I spoke with the conductor Saša Barjaktarović during the summer, and he has similar energy and supported this idea. Then we thought about the way of organizing and received support from the NGO Kutak, whose editor Sanja Radusinović also sings in the choir," said Burzan, adding that the KIC pop choir is one of the spontaneous civic artistic initiatives supported by the institution she heads.
Although the choir has 75 members on paper, 60 of them will perform tonight, and Burzan describes conductor Barjaktarović as demanding.
"It doesn't bother us. On the contrary! We only want the best. We are all working hard, we respect the long rehearsals, and tomorrow at dawn on regular work activities. There are professors, teachers, engineers, students, retirees, lawyers, entrepreneurs, architects, we are from different generations, but we have one thing in common - we love to sing," she said.
From March 1, and at the beginning they gathered twice a week. The first public presentation was at the end of April at a concert celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Budo Tomović KIC Folk Ensemble. Even then, they managed to arouse great attention among the audience, which, they hope, will culminate in tonight's concert.
"Rehearsals have been three times a week for the last few weeks, and the meeting for the concert is every day - from 18 p.m. until midnight." The energetic, charming, creative professor Barjaktarović endured it all together with us, the rehearsals were demanding, but I think we will shine tonight", Burzan does not hide his expectations.
As a professor at the Vasa Pavić music school, Barjaktarović is used to working with those who know how to read sheet music, so his involvement in the pop choir was an "absolute challenge".
"I have been involved in choral singing and music in general for 30 years, and I am full of energy and will to teach new generations who have no musical experience to sing polyphonically and accompany the ensemble," said Barjaktarović, adding that he also learned a lot from the members of the choir.
"I learned how to be patient and how to 'tame the crowd', because there will be at least 60 members at the rehearsal, so now I know how to lead them with a decisive hand," admits Barjaktarović.
Enes Tahirović (piano), Ivan Tomas (bass), Martin Đorđević (drums), Dejan Ljujić (electric guitar) and Stefan Pavićević (saxophone) will play in the accompanying band, and guests will include Andrijana Božović, Danijel Alibabić, Bojan Delić, Marija Božović, Ivana Popović Martinović, Renata Perazić, Jovan Aleksić...
"I wanted singers and my colleagues to sing with us at our first concert, because regardless of all my musical engagements, I have not given up on my solo career and I am sure that I will return to the stage," Barjaktarović promises.
They are members of various professions, and they are united by their love of singing
The members of the choir are from various professions, and among them is journalist and presenter Dušica Vugdelić.
"This type of choir is what Montenegro lacked. Most of the members, including myself, have been singing for many years - whether it's classical choirs, choirs, a group. You can rarely hear pop songs and something that everyone knows in a choral performance", Vugdelić believes.
Elektroprivreda spokeswoman Eleonora Albijanić is part of the chorus for the same reasons.
“I like to sing. I always regretted that I didn't go on to secondary music school after the lower one. But, apparently, there is some truth in the saying 'it's never too late'. We work hard, but we also have a great time hanging out, spreading positive energy. My life is richer for a wonderful experience that, I'm sure, will last," Albijanić described her view of the KIC POP choir. Vugdelić does not hide that the ambitions of the members are not small.
"With work and professionalism, we want to reach a level where we can compete with similar choirs in the region, to perform as guests, first of all, in all major cities of our country, and then beyond," she says.
When they hear us, they will invite us to festivals
The members of the choir, led by Snežana Burzan, believe that the performances will not end with tonight's concert in Podgorica, but that the spectacle they have prepared will open some new doors for them during the summer.
"Don't be surprised if we soon announce a guest appearance at one of the summer festivals.
We know that the programs have been formulated, announced, but when they hear us tomorrow evening, we are sure that there will be calls", Burzan does not hide his expectations.
