Irish post-punk band Fontaines DC have released a new song, "Before You I Just Forget," which is featured on the deluxe edition of their 2024 album, "Romance."
In addition to the new single, the deluxe edition also includes the song "It's Amazing to Be Young", which was released in February of this year and immediately took a place on numerous music charts.
The release also includes an acoustic version of the song "Starburster", as well as a cover of the famous composition "In Heaven (Lady In The Radiator Song)", from David Lynch's cult 1977 film "Eraserhead".
"'Before You I Just Forget' is a song that was born from a vision of creating a sound that is powerful, 'blown out', but also constantly changing. We wanted each new listen to reveal some new detail, like a river that you can never step into twice. In the end, the song culminates in a fantastic string arrangement written by our frontman Grian Čaten," said the band's guitarist Connor Kerley, reflecting on the process of creating the new song.
The song's producer is the renowned James Ford, known for working with numerous world-famous artists.
"Before You I Just Forget" was originally released as the B-side to the single "It's Amazing to Be Young", on vinyl, but has now received a full release as part of the deluxe version of the album.
Audiences and critics have already reacted positively to the new release, with many pointing out that "Fontaines DC" continue to confirm their status as one of the most influential bands of the new generation, skillfully combining poetic lyrics, layered arrangements, and an emotionally powerful approach to music.
