Montenegrin rapper Apro (Snežana Nikčević) released another song last week, and after collaborating with her colleague Bojana Petrović (Labia) on the song "Nema 'leba od repa", as well as Marija Božović, Đulija Perišić (Jutro) and Sara Kurgaš (Kurgashian) on DJ Mono's track "Anemoi", this time she "crossed rhymes" with her colleague - Ilija Backović, who is known in the Montenegrin hip hop world as Bacili.
The two released a song called "Meditate or Methadone" with a video, which can be viewed on the YouTube platform, and spoke to "Vijesti" about this collaboration, which, although they have known each other for a very long time, is their first.
"So it turns out, it's true that we were part of the same ciphers before and that we've somehow supported each other's work in one way or another for the last decade or so, but it's the first one if we count the classic song format," Apro begins the conversation.
"I don't have a specific answer as to why right now, except that it was 'set up' that way, but it was natural for it to happen somewhere," she concludes, adding to Bacili.
"Well, yes, the first (collaboration) as Sneža says, in the format of a song, but we've been collaborating for many years through performances, sessions, beats. And it was always in the plan, that we would record a song together. Well, we have to (laughs), and I'm sure we'll share more songs in the future," promises the rapper, while Apro explains the process during which the song "Meditate or Methadone" was created.
"We talked about collaborating, Cili liked the beat I suggested, one afternoon I was inspired to write a verse, I sent it to him, and that's how things went, its continuation was definitely in the center, as it usually happens," she recounts.
"I guess since we've been hanging out for so many years and share a lot of opinions about hip hop - we've done a lot together over the years, it was kind of 'at first' in terms of what we wanted to say, so everything just flowed smoothly," adds Nikčević.
"We agreed on the beat. We didn't discuss the topic extensively, but I knew it would be this contrast of 'Meditate or Methadone...' that was the topic of our conversation in those days," Bacili points out with a smile.
"Sneža did her part, which is fact after fact, what we see every day in a wide range of events. And I followed up," he continues.
In her latest interview for "Vijesti", Nikčević emphasized how important it is to film songs today, but also that it is now possible to record them on a phone, so it is not surprising that she also filmed the new song she recorded with Bacili.
"Similar to last time, the idea was to keep it spontaneous and relaxed, because the focus should be on the song," she explains how the film adaptation of the new track came about.
"I would mention that Karl (Ypon) created a concept that somehow reflected exactly that - the day was great, it was interesting for us and we got what we wanted, I would say," she believes.
Considering that she had previously hinted that she was working on an EP, this time she looked back at how the project was going.
"I'm really bad with dates, because a lot of things are happening in parallel (life first of all hahaha), but there are two more songs planned that will also be released one by one and all four will be part of the 'Apro Ludens' EP. There are some more projects planned so - it will be an active year," she promises.
On the other hand, Bacili released his mini album "Izvan Etera" at the beginning of this year, and when asked if there will be any more rappers after collaborating with Apro, he answered in the affirmative.
"Probably, almost definitely," Backović says with a smile.
