Kotor hip-hop duo "Who See", consisting of Dejan Dedović Dedduh and Mario Đorđević Noyz, last week filmed the song "Betonjerka" from their latest studio album "Kako jeste i kako je moglo", released a year ago.
"What happens when a rapper is stopped in his official car after an official performance is explained in the new video by the 'Who See' klapa. From three different perspectives, the klapa, in coalition with Random (Marko Lubarda), presents three points of view on the scourge of alcoholism, a disease that people in this region are not giving up on," the video's announcement reads.
"In the midst of changes to traffic laws, a colorful video directed by Vasil Vulić with the help of cameraman Mika Marković is being released. 'Betonjerka' is a new single taken from the fifth album of the 'Who See' klapa, which was released under the title 'Kako jeste i kako je moglo' towards the end of 2023. This is a kind of homage to both 'Monteniggers' and 'Gru' (Dalibor Andonov) through the appearance of Igor Niggor Lazić on the track itself and the video," the statement added.
Regarding the new video, Dedduh, in an interview with "Vijesti", reveals how the "casting" for the role went, how he coped with the role of a police officer, and hinted that some more songs from the current album will be filmed, and that they are already working on new material.
The video for "Betonjerka" arrived as a warm-up for the summer, and when asked if "Who See" had planned it, the rapper said that the video was recorded much earlier, but that circumstances led to it only being released now.
"We plan a lot of things, and a lot of things happen unplanned. Then it's easy for us to say that we planned something exactly like that, even though we may not have. This video was filmed a year ago, but there were some things going on in society that we couldn't spread the fun through. There was Novi Sad, then Cetinje, and everything stopped, it didn't make sense," he explained, then revealed the locations where the footage was shot and pointed out that they had no problems with permits.
"The locations are in our beautiful Kotor, some above the city, some in the very center, and the permits were easily obtained because, among other things, Klapa Who See enjoys a reputation because of which we always find collaborators. This video was also supported by the Kotor Tourist Organization, so I would like to take this opportunity to thank you," says the interlocutor of "Vijesti".
What was interesting to the audience when it came to "Betonjerka" was the division of roles, or rather the selection of "actors", but also a detail that many people did not miss - that Marko Lubarda (Random) does not appear in the video.
"Comrade Random was directly involved in the production of the song, who has a brilliant verse from the perspective of the concrete mixer itself (a room for holding drunk drivers), and as such, unfortunately, he could not exist in the video. And Niggor spiced things up with his famous line 'where are you, neighbor...'. The choice of actors was pretty clear, and we also have Sabrija Vulić as a police officer, Vasil Vulić as a prisoner, and other extras," says Dedduh, who also donned a police officer's uniform for the video, sharing his experience "from the other side."
"It wasn't easy for me, just because it was hot and I was confusing some drivers who happened to be there. People were wondering where the policeman got such a beard... I also collected some seat belt tickets, took the money and took the girl out to dinner," the rapper answers in his own style, announcing more new material.
"There will be more videos from the current album, and new songs are also planned. As much as the possibilities allow, we are also planning to film new things," Dedović hinted.
As he pointed out in an earlier interview for "Vijesti", the song "Betonjerka" is a kind of homage to the "Monteniggers".
"...To that famous rap group that we all listened to and whose lyrics we still know at any time of the day. That parallel has always followed us and then we have no choice but to pay attention to them, and the fans of 'Monteniggers' are also our fans. We inherited them. Niggor is an old friend and he was glad that we made this story," Dedduh previously said.
This song carries perhaps the strongest message on the album - "when you drink, don't even drive a car made of flint." Aware that part of their audience is young people, Dedduh and Noyz wanted to use this song to point out to them the fact that it is very important to be a conscientious driver.
Speaking when the song was first released, Dedduh revealed that their own experience did not inspire them to make "Betonjerka".
"We are conscientious drivers, and for the sake of young people, we use every opportunity in the media to recommend it. Many of our lyrics talk about or at least mention a traffic situation through a positive or negative example. The messages are clear to people who listen to our music," the rapper said at the time.
Previously, Dedduh and Noyz, from the album "Kako jeste i kako je moglo", also filmed the songs "EOA", "Mediteran" (feat. Senidah) and "Nema jačih" (feat. Edo Maajka).
