Black lady together: "The idea of ​​this band can't die"

The Montenegrin band "Crna dama" returns to the music scene after a break of more than 20 years.

The founders of the group Ljubiša Bulatović, vocalist and songwriter, Enes Dreković, guitarist, and Garo Bakić, drummer, decided to restore the old glory of the Bjelopolje band, so on Friday, June 23, they will release a new single and music video "Sa tobom vodi me", which will mark the reunion.

"The idea of ​​the Black Lady band, regardless of everything, can never die. We got together again out of love for music and the band to continue our long-begun story. The reactivation was without any pretensions and expectations, and we are glad that the audience responded to this news brilliantly", boasted Ljubiša Bulatović in an interview with Vijesti.

As he said, regardless of the fact that this band has not been active for decades, Bulatović wrote songs in the hope that one day the "old team" would be reunited.

"After the band stopped working, I built a solo career for a while and then decided to do music exclusively by working for others. I didn't want to make compromises and record something that wasn't me, that I didn't find myself in, that's why I was only active as an author all this time. That's how this track "Sa tobo vodi me" was created about seven or eight years ago, which was waiting to be published for a long time, gathering dust in a drawer. However, I was forced to sell some of the songs I wrote, because I live from music, regardless of the fact that I created them with the hope of singing them with the Black Lady", says Bulatović, revealing that he regrets that some songs were not left for his group.

"Two tracks from that opus 'Ti moja si' and 'My sweet angel' were sung by the son of my friend Isak Šabanović, and I'm sorry that I didn't leave them for us. But there will be songs, even a track that will be a duet, and we plan to release it only in the fall, I think it will be a hit. It's a rock ballad, and it's the only song I never wanted to sell to anyone, and it was written 20 years ago," explains Bulatović.

The new single "Sa tobom vodi me" will have a recognizable expression of the band "Crna dama".

"Thanks to new technologies, it might sound different to our fans, but that's it, that's our sound, the real American one, which we presented on the first album. We were never interested in reviews, fame, selling ourselves, but we do music because we love it," Bulatović points out.

The return of the Black Lady has pleased many fans of rock sound, so this Sunday they will have two concerts.

"Already on Friday, June 23, we will play at the Shamrock pub in Bijelo Polje, and a day later at the Smak pub in Berane. We will also be guests of the White Field Jazz Festival, where we are scheduled to perform on June 2, and we will also visit some other cities, among which we have planned Podgorica," reveals Bulatović.

"Obviously, many people were happy about the return of the Black Lady, because a lot of people called us to play and we have a lot of concerts scheduled until July 15," concludes Bulatović.

Crna dama, formed in the early 90's, released the album "Ne traži me" for RTCG in 1993. The following year, the next studio release of the composition, produced by Valada Negovanović, is published by PGP RTS. This was followed by a tour of Serbia, participation in the Budva and Mesam festivals. The band stopped working at the end of 1995.

Return to Bijelo Polje and return to music

The activation of the band "Crna dama" especially pleased the sons of drummer Garo Bakić. Goran and Vukašin Bakić, former members of the band "Pogrešila roda" shared this information with their fans on Facebook, in order to support their father, who as the head of the family decided to move everyone to another city for their education.

"In order for us all to be together, the decision was made to move, but this is the last year of their schooling, so we are returning to Bijelo Polje and I am returning to music," said the elder Bakić. His sons covered one of Crna dama's songs with the former band a few years ago, so the eldest Bakić rated their cover:

"That song turned out well in their performance, although they did not stray too far from the sound of the Black Lady," said Garo Bakić.
