The song "Wasted Love" by JJ, representing Austria, won this year's Eurovision Song Contest, held in the Swiss city of Basel.
Austria was first even after the jury votes, but ultimately won with a very slim advantage over Israel, which received by far the most audience votes and made its way from the back to a surprising second place.
The winner's name is actually Johannes Pitsch, he is 23 years old, has a classical music education, and also participated in the reality show The Voice.
This year, 37 countries participated in the competition, of which 26 advanced to the finals.
None of the four representatives of the former Yugoslavia (Montenegro, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia) qualified for the final competition night this year.
Montenegro's representative, Nina Žižić, was eliminated in the semi-finals, and performed with the song "Dobrodošli".
