Podgorica alt-rock quartet "Krajnji sjever", consisting of Ivan Andrijašević (keyboards and voice), Ivan Mrdak (guitar and glasses), Đorđe Sulaver (drum and voice) and Dragan Lucic (bass) has released a new single "I Won't Stop".
"'Far North' is after the songs 'Grad', 'Let Today Fix Yesterday' and 'Voice of Truth' "has also released its fourth single. It is the song 'Neću stati', a kind of road song that describes the searches and struggles of an individual and their need to embark on a journey towards a life worth living," the band explains.
"The most atmospheric song this foursome has released so far, as we've grown accustomed to, once again brings a different sound. It grows on a recognizable bass line and a discreet, but effective rhythm. They create an introspective tone that the band will continue to build on. Minimalist keyboards and guitars create an almost ambient tone on which the lyrics that describe the main character's journey are arranged. Or as one listener commented on social media: 'My current struggle. With the inner and outer world!'" reads the statement regarding the new single.
"This is a song that was a real challenge. Just the fact that it was recorded in March and released in June says a lot about the whole process. It grew out of a simple jam session, which is how the most honest songs come to light. We already knew then that all its complexity was in the atmosphere. The question was: how to build a foundation for one of the greatest struggles of each of us with minimal musical means?" the band said, explaining that their goal is always to be able to faithfully recreate what is recorded in the studio at upcoming gigs.
"Today you can record anything you can imagine. You don't even have to go to the studio. From the first note we recorded together, it's important to us that what we record, we can present live tomorrow, without the song losing its energy, atmosphere, and ultimately its meaning," add the band "Krajnji sjever".
"In their new song, the Podgorica alt-rock quartet 'Krajnji sjever' used the atmosphere of new wave, post rock from the early eighties of the last century, with a touch of early goth. Into all this, they introduced modern production and numerous musical influences of the new millennium. Adding new layers from beginning to end, the arrangement skillfully nuances the struggle of the main character," the single's announcement explains.
"'Neću stati' is a song that, through subtle building, emotional vocals and atmospheric arrangement, conveys a message of determination and not giving up. The classic combination of melancholic minor harmonies of the stanza with a dynamic major chorus allows the listener to feel inner growth and motivation. But also the tension and discomfort of the 'traveler'," add "Krajnji sjever".
The music and arrangement are by the entire band, while the lyrics are by keyboardist Ivan Andrijašević. The song “Neću stati” was recorded at the Disorder studio in Nikšić in March of this year. The recording was Bojan Dobrilović, and the mixing and mastering was done by Goran Antović.
