World Music Day

On the occasion of Nikšić's candidacy for UNESCO City of Music and European Capital of Culture 2030, on Saturday, June 21st, starting at 21 pm, at Trg Slobode, the Nikšić 2030 ECOC Office, in cooperation with Radio-Television Nikšić, is organizing a celebration of World Music Day.

"Transistors will be placed on the city's linden trees, and on this occasion we invite fellow citizens to take their radios out into the streets, so that together we can recall the times when music was listened to publicly - in a common space, on squares and streets," the organizers of this event invite.

"During the day, a special program will be broadcast via radio receivers that includes conversations with local musicians and bands, interviews with festival organizers, promotions of new music releases, songs by local artists, messages of support from international European partners, and live concerts by local musicians," it was announced in a statement marking World Music Day in Nikšić.

Immediately before the start of the program, the Nikšić 2030 EPK Initiative Office, in cooperation with OKC Tibor, is organizing a jam session with local musicians.

"Instruments and sound systems will be set up on Freedom Square, and all passersby are invited to join in the improvisation and creation of music on the spot. With this celebration, we want to highlight the richness of Nikšić's music scene and contribute to the promotion of the city as an authentic cultural destination," the organizers said in a statement.
