Everything is ready for the second edition of the Pearl of the Adriatic festival in Tivat, which will once again bring together numerous musical talents from Montenegro and the region on the Summer Stage.
Namely, Montenegro was once known for its competitive summer festivals that brought together the best performers from the region and beyond, and their hits are still sung today. This tradition is continued by the Pearl of the Adriatic, which will begin tonight and last for two days.
The first evening of the festival will be dedicated to local performers, and as many as 25 talented artists will present their new original songs. The best of them will get a "second chance" and their latest singles will be heard at the regional evening the day after.
"Last year, the story of the Pearl of the Adriatic began and we are very pleased with how everything went. We also hope that this year will be at that level, and we tried to make it even better. This is the first time in the history of Montenegrin festivals that we have a local evening where only performers from Montenegro will perform, and out of the 25 competitors, I am sure that many songs will be sung and remembered long after the event," proudly emphasizes the creator and director of the festival, a Montenegrin musician Bojan DelicWhat he advises tonight's participants, especially those for whom this performance is a "baptism of fire", is that they must "nurture the song".
"Even though they are at the festival, this performance means nothing if they don't dedicate themselves to the song in the sense of recording videos, appearing on shows and generally working on promotion, and that has made us all lazy. The lack of such events has made performers look at their careers differently. The festival is a way to bring back the old view of music, to ensure a quality music scene and for the careers of certain musicians to gradually grow, as they used to. I am glad that we have a lot of new colleagues, but also that some older and more experienced colleagues will present their songs as part of the Biser Jadran. We are really proud and full of enthusiasm and we believe that everything will go well," adds Delić.
At the very beginning of the festival, Bojan wanted to give special support to his local colleagues, so one evening was dedicated exclusively to their songs. This year, the audience can expect many new faces, young authors and performers who will be presenting themselves on such an important platform for the first time. Festivals of this type are perhaps the best springboard for them because they are an opportunity for a wider audience to hear them, and the Vijesti interviewee is particularly proud of the fact that this evening will produce as many as 25 new songs. The festival will open tonight Jovana Mršulja accompanied by Teatr 303 with the song "Dome moj, Boko moja", while Igor Markovic to sing the song “Tajna”. Another debutante Milica Šćepanović will perform "I Trust You Everything", and Pavle Sekulic will sing "Beskrajno". They will also have their "five" minutes at the festival Anastasia Orlovic with the song "Straight Line", Snezana Bosancic (“I am not meant for you”), Dejan Draskovic (“For my angel”) as well as last year’s debutante Doris Dekovic (“Close your eyes”). Tonight will Milorad Mijušković sing "Who am I", Anđela Murišić will perform with the song "Dragi", and Anastasia Koprolcec will perform "Milo moje". The audience will also hear the songs "Ako ti ne vrejdem" (If I'm Not Worth It) Luka Leković, “Finally my own” Tamara Zivkovic, “Bokeljka” Milan Bukilić"I have no reason to do that" Majda Bozovic, until Samir Ramovic sing "Let Me Go". Mirjana Vukanovic will perform their first single "Hyena", and Isidora Nikolic "For love without pain". Among the participants of the local evening there are also several veterans and they will present new singles as part of the Biser Jadran Luka Radovic (“Angels”), Đurđa Petrović is a Pole (“Let me go”), Bozo Bulatovic (“Touch me”), Nina Petkovic ("Illusion"), Steven Faddy (“On the left side of the bed”) and Andrijana Božović (“It's good”). The competition part will be closed by the group Makadam with the song “Secretly, more secretly”.
"I am proud of all the artists who will appear tonight and their new singles. The first idea was to present 20 of them, but I wanted to be useful to them, especially young people who want to do music because the Montenegrin music scene was almost dying. I had a burning desire to be of help to myself and my colleagues. I am glad that we have a lot of young and new faces who will hopefully experience magical moments in front of a thousand people in the audience and who knows how many thousands in front of small screens because we are going directly not only to Montenegro, but the entire region will be able to follow what is happening in Tivat tonight and tomorrow night," Delić proudly points out, explaining that the first night is not of a qualifying nature.
"Tonight is home night, and I see advancing to the regional part of the festival as a bonus because the prize pool is the same," says Delić, adding that the eight first-place songs will be performed on July 19th at the same venue.
There are no pre-arranged prizes at the Biser Jadrana festival, nor are participation reserved for popular names, who often condition their performance with awards and special status. This is why this festival story is more difficult to shape, claims Delić, who is proud of the fact that the “Biser Jadrana” does not rely on famous names, but on the song, emotion and energy of the performers.
"We will be a festival that will bring out new people, but also host established ones who want this kind of promotion. We are well-covered and strong in the media, so I think we have something to offer performers. We will try to stay at that level, without any guarantees for anyone. And when performers see that it is all fair and honest, with some good prizes and funds, I am sure that there will be more and more participants in our festival," concludes Delić.
Revive the Montenegrin scene
The Montenegrin music scene has been lacking freshness and new names that would bring authentic expression and new energy for a long time. That is why the Biser Jadrana festival holds a special place because in just one year it has managed to mobilize authors, motivate performers to create and appear before the audience with their own songs.
"The Pearl of the Adriatic has done something that no one has done in a long time - we have revived our music scene. We are also here for regional performers, but our priority is the domestic music scene. This year alone we have so many good songs, we have launched not only performers but also authors, and congratulations are coming from all sides. Our goal is to grow and become better and stronger year after year," promises Delić.
