Thirteen-year-old girl from Bjelopolje Asja Džogović She is looking forward to going to Eurovision with great joy, and the winner is especially pleased to go to Georgia.
Asja will represent Montenegro at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC) 2025, which will take place on December 13 in Tbilisi, Georgia.
The representative of Montenegro for "Vijesti" reveals her expectations in Tbilisi.
"From Eurovision, I expect to touch the heart of everyone who listens to me with my performance, interpretation, and emotion. I believe that I will win the hearts of the jury and the audience in Georgia as well, and that my country will be proud of me," she said.
This modest girl, an excellent eighth-grade student at the "Risto Ratković" Elementary School in Bijelo Polje, is not only the winner of numerous music awards at domestic and regional festivals, but she is also a true role model for younger generations.
Music has long been her greatest passion, and in her spare time she paints and trains volleyball.
Over the past years, she has had a string of successes at numerous children's festivals in the country and the region. She is the winner of the "Naša radost" festival (award for best text) and "Zlatna nota", Novi Pazar (award for interpretation and arrangement), with notable performances at the "Zlatna pahulja", Rožaje (first award for interpretation), the Djurdjevdan festival, Banja Luka (award for best interpretation, composition and arrangement) and the "Ja sam tvoj drug" festival, Požega (first award of the children's jury and award for interpretation).
She emphasizes that she is particularly fond of her Grand Prix in all categories at the Kids Stars Festival in Sarajevo and Voice of the Stars in Zagreb 2024, as well as multiple awards at the Belgrade "ANGEL VOICE" festival.
The selection for the Montenegrin representative at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest considered children aged nine to 14 who had achieved significant results at children's music festivals in Montenegro and the region in the past. Priority was given to candidates who had won first place or the Grand Prix in competitions with a professional jury and live performances in the last two years, as well as awards at renowned regional events.
The selection particularly valued vocal abilities, emotional interpretation, stage confidence and experience in live performances, along with natural communication with the audience, which are qualities that have long since soared Asja into the starry sky of music.
You've been used to winning at various festivals since you were little. Did you expect to be the representative of Junior Eurovision?
I have been a member of the D-moll Singing School in Podgorica for six years, and a student at the Primary School for Music Education in Bijelo Polje. My performances and involvement in music began when I was seven years old, and from the very beginning, every performance I performed was a success. I can't say that I didn't expect to win.
What does that mean to you and do you expect such a victory to "invite" similar performances when you grow up?
My dream, and my desire is always present for some new successes, every award, every recognition, every grand prix at festivals created the desire to one day represent my country at the biggest festival in the world, which is Eurovision. Now it's for juniors, and one day I imagine myself on the stage of the big Eurovision.
When do preparations begin and will you be able to fit them in with your existing obligations?
Preparations are starting very soon, and I honestly can't wait, because that's what I love the most, what drives me, and that's me - Asja. I have a big task and responsibility ahead of me, but I believe in myself, and I know that behind it will be great success. My performances and festivals where I performed have always been awarded the first and best awards, from the expert jury, the audience, and all those who were part of the decision at that moment, I won three Grand Prix in Zagreb, Sarajevo and Belgrade, I think that these are very valuable awards for my young years, and that they were valued as much as all the ones I have, which adorn the wall of my room.
Can you tell us what the song you'll be performing in Tbilisi is about?
I can't tell you anything about the song for now, I have several offers and options, and I think my choice will be a ballad with a strong message. I am sure of one thing, my country Montenegro, my city Bijelo Polje, my authors and my family, who are my greatest support and without whom I would not be where I am now, I will present them in the most beautiful and best light and they will be as proud as they have been so far.
Even though you are only 13 years old, you have performed a large number of times and won numerous awards at prestigious children's festivals. Did that influence the decision to represent Montenegro?
Of course, that was crucial in RTCG's decision.
Do you have stage fright?
I don't have stage fright, maybe excitement and joy. The effort and work I put into what I do gives me the strength to shine and enjoy myself on stage.
How did your friends react when they heard?
My friends are also proud, happy, and supportive.
Do you have the support of the school principal and teachers?
Throughout my performances at festivals, I had the support of the school - the principal, teachers, understanding for the classes I sometimes missed, but I was always responsible, worked hard and my success at school was excellent. All I needed was good organization and I achieved everything. As always, I would like to thank my family, mom, dad, brothers Daylanu i Damir, who are always with me...
