Morrissey cancels concerts due to fatigue

Former Smiths frontman Morrissey has cancelled two concerts in Mexico due to "extreme fatigue".

Namely, he was supposed to perform at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City on Friday (31.10.25) and at the Auditorio Telmex in Zapopan on Tuesday (04.11.25), but the performances were canceled at the last minute.

Promoters OCESA released a statement explaining that the singer had canceled the shows. The statement explained that ticket buyers who purchased tickets online will automatically receive a refund, while those who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster or at the box office can request a refund from November 7th at the point of purchase.

Following the cancellation announcement, Morrissey's official website released a video for the song "I Know It's Gonna Happen Someday," along with several emojis and Mexican flags.

This is not the first cancellation on Morrissey's tour.

Last month, he canceled shows in Turkey amid criticism of his support for Israel. Concerts scheduled for December were removed from sales after footage of a 2012 concert in Tel Aviv, where he was dressed in an Israeli flag, went viral.

In September, he canceled shows in Connecticut and Boston after a “credible threat” that he would be killed on stage.

The message posted at the time on Morrissey's official Facebook page read:

"Over the past few days, there has been a credible threat to Morrissey's life. As a precaution for the safety of the performers and the audience, tonight's performance at Foxwoods has been cancelled. We appreciate your understanding." The message stressed that ticket prices would be refunded.

Morrissey also canceled a concert in Stockholm over the summer, claiming he had "zero support from the music industry."

“The pain of not being able to get to Stockholm this week is terrible for the band and the crew. I know it’s hard for people to understand, but we dream of Stockholm, Reykjavik, Trondheim, Helsinki, Aarhus… but there is no financial support from fictional record labels to take us to such places. In the last seven days we have traveled through six countries and we are extremely tired. We can barely see. We pray to God that someone, somewhere, can help us get to Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Denmark… where we have thousands and thousands of friends, but absolutely zero support from the music industry. No record label will release our music, no radio will play our songs… and yet the ticket sales are sensational. What does that tell us about the state of the art in 2025?” reads the Morrissey Central website regarding the canceled concert in Stockholm.

In May, performances in California were canceled after the 66-year-old star was hospitalized for a "severe attack of sinusitis."
