A music legend whose career spans more than five decades Elton John is currently working on new material together with his long-time collaborator Bernie Taupin.

Although he said goodbye to touring two years ago after completing his farewell album “Farewell Yellow Brick Road,” John has shown that his creativity and love for music know no pause.

In interviews with Variety, the singer revealed that he feels better than ever and that his vocals are in excellent condition, despite serious health problems, including complete loss of vision in his right eye and partial loss of vision in his left.

"I can't wait to get into the studio now and write some new songs. Music is my whole life and it has given me so much and taken me on journeys I never thought I would experience, and it still does," said Elton John.

He explained that the songwriting process was challenging after he contracted an eye infection while on vacation in France last year that left permanent effects on his vision.

"I couldn't see anything, watch anything, read anything. It's really devastating, but music keeps me going. Without it, I wouldn't know what to do," the musician admitted.

Speaking about the new process of writing songs in conditions of limited vision, he emphasized that what he continued to write were encouraging small steps in the right direction.

“We found a teleprompter with green font, which is easier to read. And the font size is perfect, just put it in front of him while he's writing at the piano. It's like having Bernie's handwriting from the 70s… I have seven new lyrics from Bernie, and David read them to me this summer and they're really great, so I can't wait to get in the studio and just write and see what happens,” he emphasized.

Despite these challenges, Elton has continued to perform at private concerts, and plans to hold 11 more such concerts by the end of the year.
