Single “The Fate Of Ophelia” from the current album Taylor Swift It has spent the longest at number one on the UK Official Singles Chart of all her songs, and is now at the top for the seventh week in a row.
"The Fate Of Ophelia" is the lead single from the album "The Life Of A Showgirl", released on October 3, 2025, along with the project, and first reached number one on October 16. After three weeks at number one, it was replaced by "Golden" from the Netflix KPop Demon Hunters film, which is performed by the fictional K-pop group Huntr/x. However, Sweet then regained the top spot after two weeks.
The song also recorded the highest sales in the first week of 2025 and of Taylor's career, with 132.000 copies sold.
Previously, “Anti-Hero,” from her 2022 album Midnights, was her longest-running single at number one, spending six consecutive weeks. Swift then became the first woman since Majli Cyrus 2013 which simultaneously topped the album and singles charts, while the song spent 15 weeks in the top 10.
Swift has topped the UK charts with five different singles so far. The first was “Look What You Made Me Do” in 2017, which spent two weeks at the top, followed by “Anti-Hero” in 2022, “Is It Over Now?” (Taylor's Version) in 2023, “Fortnight” in 2024, both for one week, and finally “The Fate Of Ophelia”.
The Life Of A Showgirl became her 14th number one album in the UK, spending four consecutive weeks at the top. Swift has the most number one albums by a foreign artist, while the domestic record is held by The Beatles and Robbie Williams, with 15 consecutive weeks each.
The Official Charts list has placed Swift among the artists considered candidates for Christmas Number One this year.
