Kotor rapper Dejan Dedović Dedduh, best known as a member of the a cappella group Who See, recently tried his hand as an author of music from a slightly different genre, so the Montenegrin and European audience that followed the selection for Montenegro's representative at Eurovision - Montesong, were able to hear his song "Nedekodirana", performed by Stefan Vukotić.
Dedduh spoke to "Vijesti" about his collaboration with his young fellow citizen, Vukotić, the song "Nedekodirana", as well as his impressions after Montesong, and also reflected on "Mista politišon", the song he recorded in collaboration with the "Knowhwre2run" production team, Todor Tadić and Marko Ćaćić, for the "Domestic Work 2" compilation.
Although the audience has long known him as the (co)author of songs for the band Who See, we now had the opportunity to see what it looks like when he ventures into another musical genre, as the author of music, lyrics, and arrangements for "Nedekodiranu", so at the beginning of the conversation, Dedduh explains how he came up with the idea of creating music that is not hip hop.
"Who See is my comfort zone, but even in the song I did for Stefan, I didn't step out of that zone much. It's an experience for me too, and now some things are much clearer to me," admits Dedović, recalling how the collaboration with Vukotić initially came about.
"Stefan is my fellow citizen and in such a small town it's not difficult for two musicians to run into each other. I'm glad we worked together and now I expect we've broken the ice," he says, and then answers the question of how satisfied he is with Vukotić's performance at "Montesong".
"He was good at 'Montesong' and that performance will mean something to him going forward," Dedduh is certain.
And he is also pleased with the placement of the song "Nedekodirana", especially because Vukotić also received twelve points from the members of the group "Shkodra Elektronike" who were on the expert jury and who represented Albania at the "Eurosong" last year.
"We weren't aiming for placement, but for the platform itself called 'Montesong'. We're aware that it's good advertising for him, and that's what we got," the rapper concluded.
"It's a great satisfaction that the foreign jury liked us, especially since it's 'Skodra Elektronika', a band that breaks away from the pop music mold," he adds.
Dedduh also reveals how the song "Nedekodirana" came about, but also what inspired him while working on it.
"The song comes together after a few days, hanging out over a glass of wine, chatting and just getting to know each other. We could even make an album right now," Dedović is sure.
As he says, in the coming period, the audience can expect more such "excursions" outside of hip hop music.
"I suppose that's to be expected. There's a lot in me that hasn't come out yet," he hinted.
But hip hop was not neglected either, considering that Who See closed 2025 with the song "Pod prozor", and Dedduh with the track "Mista politišon", which was included on the compilation "Domaća rabota 2".
What is characteristic of this compilation, which features as many as 30 songs, is that all rappers write lyrics on the matrices of Tadić and Ćaćić, so Dedduh also looks at whether it is harder to work when he "gets an assignment" from someone or records songs on his own or Noyz's (Mario Đorđević) matrices.
"That's my terrain, I'm good at it and it doesn't matter whose beat I rap to. 'Knowhwre2run' are my friends who I will always be available to, because I have great respect for those who improve the blood count of our scene," the rapper points out.
The compilation had room for both more experienced and younger colleagues, so you can hear songs by Random, Labie, Wicked Rasa, Sivil, Poetika, Jutro, Story, Strašila, Kurgashian, Apro, Skovecheta...
"There are masters of hip hop and I won't list them individually, but all of this means that rap culture in Montenegro is at the forefront," says Dedduh, who does not want to single out anyone in particular, but emphasizes the importance of the compilation for the Montenegrin hip hop scene.
"We have the most releases and we lead Montenegrin music in calm waters while pop/rock musicians don't smell each other and call each other names on social media - we work and have the works behind us," he believes.
While the audience of Who See Klapa awaits new songs, in the upcoming, albeit winter, period, they can hear the Kotor duo live. After performing at Independence Square in Podgorica before the New Year, Who See already has a concert scheduled for February in Novi Sad.
"In 2026, we are here - from Triglav to Đevđelija," said Dedduh.
