Croatian musician Mile Kekin, best known as the frontman of the popular punk group Hladno pivo, will present his first independent video on Monday, made for the recently released track "Reno 4".
"The video was shot in one day at a dozen mostly authentic locations. The entire video is carried by the young talented main protagonist Ana Šišmanović. For the purposes of filming, I drove the original 'Renault 4' all day, which instantly brought me back to the time of the action, which this time is in the background. Goran Kulenović (director) tried more to capture the mood of the song, so the video was partially shot with the original H8 technique, in order to get a picture of old home movie collections. Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the inventors of power steering, air conditioning and parking sensors," said Kekin.
"Reno 4" is an autobiographical song that tells about the musician's first student days, first love, first Cold Beer CD and of course, first car. This track announces Kekin's solo album, which should be released at the end of this year.
"Work on it is slow, but it's going. It will be different from everything I have done so far, it will be a tribute to my role models, poetic greats from Dylan, Springsteen, Waits, there will also be blues, folk rock, country... We are recording on tape to get exactly that analog warmth, so I hope that I will manage to arrange a vinyl release as well. Thematically, it will be my kind of intimate story, songs about myself, and not so much about the world around me, the album will be neither loud nor engaging, let me warn you right away", said Kekin recently in an interview for "Vijesti".
"Reno 4" will premiere on Monday, May 29, at 20 p.m. on the MTV Adria channel, and will then be released on the YouTube service.
