Del Arno Band (DAB) is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. The anniversary will be rounded off this year with the release of their birthday album “The Return of Dread Ia”.
As an announcement of the compilation, the band released the first single "Jedno po jedno", with which they symbolically began the celebration of four decades of work.
The author of the lyrics and music is frontman Jovan Matić.
The Del Arno band was founded in 1985 in Belgrade, as the first authentic reggae group in the then Yugoslavia. It was born from the idea of combining Jamaican reggae with the local, then Serbo-Croatian language, social context and engaged lyrics, which at that time represented a precedent on the domestic music scene. During four decades of continuous work, Del Arno remained consistent with the reggae aesthetic, but also with a clear social stance. This is precisely why it gained the status of a cult band.
They have released seven studio albums, one live album and one compilation so far. A celebratory release, “The Return of Dred Ia,” will be released later this year.
