Montenegrin musician Neno Murić presented his new song "Ako čuješ glas" at the Montesong festival, which was held at the end of December last year, and which selects Montenegro's representative at the Eurovision Song Contest.
Although Tamara Živković won with the song "Nova zora", Murić and his song did not go unnoticed, considering that he received points from both the audience and the jury, but as he pointed out in an interview with "Vijesti", the placement was not the most important thing for him, but the promotion of the song.
In addition, he told "Vijesti" how the song "Da li čuješ glas" was created, revealed whose song from Montesong he liked the most, as well as his career plans for 2026, and announced the release of his third album.
As he says, after the impressions from Montesong had settled down, it was "a very nice experience" for him.
"I enjoyed the preparations, the rehearsals, the socializing. It was a little tiring, but it was worth it. I gained a new audience and I have a song that I'm sure will last," the musician believes.
"I wasn't burdened with the placement at all. I did my best to make sure that everything was at the top level in the three minutes that the song lasted," comments the interviewee of "Vijesti".
When the votes of the audience and the jury were translated into the Eurovision scoring system, Murić received two points from both, but he emphasizes that the outcome is not important, but the promotion of the song.
"This is a really big event and a big project, and there is always some nervousness, but it is overcome when you get going and see that everything is working. Many countries in the region do not have the ability to organize such a competition, Montenegro can and that should be appreciated," he told "Vijesti" after the end of Montesong.
"I know how much effort it takes to organize and prepare all of this at this level. The choice of both singers and authors was excellent and I am truly delighted. I would recommend everyone to apply next year. It is not important to win, but the opportunity to present your song to a wider audience," he said.
When asked which song from Montesong was his favorite to win, excluding his own, Murić singled out the song "Nova zora" which will represent Montenegro in May, in Vienna, at Eurovision.
"The winning song is good, it has nice energy and simple lyrics that are memorable. Tamara Živković is a good singer. Đurđa and Mila Nikić also had good songs," the musician praised his colleagues who performed at Montesong with the songs "Dominos" and "Kao varnica".
Murić also reveals how the song "Ako čuješ glas" came about, that is, how it found its way to him and how he knew it was the right song for his presentation at Montesong.
"I've been dreaming about a song like that for a long time. When I talked to the author Dejan Božović about which direction to go, we both agreed that we would move towards a pop ballad, with lush melodies and interpretations," he recalls.
"On first listening, while the song was still in demo form, I fell in love with it," adds Murić, revealing that in the coming period, there are plans to make a film adaptation of the aforementioned track, as well as record more new songs.
"I'm working on my third studio album, which I planned to complete this year," announced the musician, who, when not in the studio, shares his songs with the audience at performances. And there will be more of them in 2026.
"My management has already arranged some interesting performances in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Montenegro. I will work full steam ahead. I am looking forward to hanging out with the audience in Podgorica, Nikšić and Bar, where I already have performances scheduled," Murić boasted, and at the end of the interview he also revealed some of his career plans for the new year.
"My love for music is immense and it has guided me all these years, through the challenges and temptations that this calling brings with it," explains the musician.
"It's important to me to maintain continuity, to socialize as much as possible with people who love what I do, to exchange energy and to have fun. It's food for my soul," he continues, hinting at what the audience can expect from his new album, which will be released later this year.
"The new album will be very diverse, it will include some more rhythmic songs that lean towards a modern sound, but there will also be those with classical motifs, chansons. I can't wait for people to hear what we have prepared for them," said Neno Murić.
