Young Montenegrin musician, Majda Božović, is winning over the audience, as well as the festival's expert juries, at the very beginning of her career, considering that she already has three awards, two of which are for best interpretation.
At the Montesong festival, where Montenegro's representative for Eurovision is selected, she won fifth place, but the jury of this event believed that her performance of the song "Ipak smo ljudi" was the best interpretation.
A little over half a year ago, at the Biser Jadrana festival, she performed the song "Nemam razloga za to" (I Have No Reason for That), and on the first night she was awarded the Bronze Pearl, and on the second night she received recognition for the best interpretation in the competition of regional musicians.
Speaking to "Vijesti", Božović reflected on these awards, emphasizing how important they are to her, hinted at further plans when it comes to her musical career, and shared her impressions from Montesong, held in December.
"The impressions have finally settled, and I can say that Montesong is another wonderful experience. I am most pleased with the reactions of the audience, friends, family... which I perhaps did not expect," she says.
When asked how the decision to apply for this festival's competition came about, he says that it was spontaneous, and also clarifies whether the song was already finished and awaiting publication or was it recorded specifically for the occasion.
"I applied for Montesong completely spontaneously, and the song was written specifically for the competition. The team I had the opportunity to work with (Lena Kovačević, Violeta Mihajlovska and Nemanja Mihajlović) contacted me and this time came up with the idea of appearing in that competition as well," she points out.
"I am immensely grateful to them for all the support they give me!", added the interviewee of "Vijesti", who is satisfied with the final placement, namely fifth place.
"I am satisfied and very grateful. I am someone who is at the beginning of my musical journey and career, so I don't expect too much at festivals like this, so I can freely say that I didn't expect a high ranking," Božović is honest, who also reflects on the award for best interpretation that the festival jury awarded her, and emphasizes that it is especially dear to her because it bears the name of Snežana Ćosović.
"The interpretation award is very significant, and to receive such recognition is incredible. However, this award that I received at Montesong is a little dearer to me and has a deeper meaning for me, precisely because of the name it bears," replies the young musician, who also received the same award at the Biser Jadrana festival, held last summer.
"I appreciate both awards, but as I already mentioned, the award for the interpretation of 'Snežana Ćosović' is still dearer to me. Unfortunately, Sneškić is no longer with us, but she left a mark on me and if it weren't for her, I certainly wouldn't be where I am," claims Božović.
With or without the award, Montesong contributed to the promotion of the song "We Are Still People", she claims.
"Montesong greatly contributed to the promotion of the song I performed - 'Ipak smo ljudi'. The song reached foreigners precisely because of the competition, who sang it, recorded it, wrote translations, and it's a truly incredible feeling to know that someone who doesn't understand your language at all is listening to your song and enjoying it," the Montenegrin musician praised.
And when it comes to further plans for her musical career, Božović is not among those who work under pressure.
"As for future plans, I don't have anything concrete for now. I'm determined to continue building my path and my name," she says, hinting that she might try different musical genres in her upcoming songs.
"As for the next songs, there will definitely be some, and I can say that I am open to trying new genres. Of course, for now I'm sticking to what works best for me, but maybe sometime in the near future you'll hear something different from me," said Božović.
