Singer Fler Ist she begged to be "fired" from Simon Cowell's record label.
Thirty-eight-year-old Ist rose to fame after reaching the final of The X Factor in 2014, but three years later she decided to leave the record label.
"Going to the studio every day for two years is mentally exhausting. And then they tell you, 'I just don't think it's good enough,'" she admitted.
“I walked into the office, asked for a meeting and said, ‘What are you doing with me? Just let me go. I’m an adult. This state of uncertainty, this being kept aside, is horrible. It’s worse than just letting me go, so please do this.’ I had to really push them. Imagine begging to be fired,” she recalled.
She spoke out after Simon recently apologized for being, as he said, "a jerk" towards young pop hopefuls.
