One of Usher's biggest hits, the 2004 single "My Boo," reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent eight weeks at the top. However, few people know that Usher didn't immediately fall for the song.
Adonis Shropshire, who participated in the creation of the song, recalls how it all began:
"I got a call at midnight from Jermaine Dupri asking me to come over and listen to some music he had," he said, adding that Usher was skeptical when he first heard "My Boo." They played the song in the studio around four in the morning, and his first impression was negative.
"He said he hated it and never wanted to hear it again. But after half an hour he went into a silent room and recorded it," Shropshire said.
He revealed that the women's section was intended for Beyonce, but since she was on tour, they called Alicia Keys.
Twenty years later, Usher and Keys performed “My Boo” again during the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show, reminding the audience of the unforgettable hit that came about almost by accident and became a classic. MV
