Former KISS guitarist sells album for $2 million

Former KISS guitarist Vinnie Vincent is selling his new album “in master format only” for $2 million.

Just months after selling his limited edition single for $225, Vincent has announced the 10 songs that will be featured on the album. The musician, who played in KISS between 1982 and 1984, may be selling “one of the greatest rock albums of all time” for “only” $2 million, but he’s also offering buyers some unique perks.

According to Vincent's official website, the album will be "master format only," meaning the buyer can later release it in any format they wish, but all marketing must pass Vincent's approval.

The price does not include the copyrights and trademarks associated with Vincent or the album, but only includes a perpetual license to use the names "Vinnie Vincent Invasion" and "Vinnie Vincent" for the album. A separate agreement can be made for the purchase of the copyrights.

For those who find the price too high, individual songs can be purchased for $200.000 per song. Once the buyer receives the master and artwork, refunds are not possible.

Vincent has previously defended the high prices of his music, writing on Facebook (via Stereogum): "I understand the complaints and grievances about the price, but you have to understand that my music is in such high demand that it would be downloaded immediately, which I cannot and will not allow. I wish it weren't so, but I am honored that it is. It is a double-edged sword, but I hope you understand the dilemma I face."

Vincent compared his single to “caviar or a work of art,” emphasizing that “not everyone can afford it” and claiming that “fair market price” is a thing of the past.
