Sting has no intention of retiring from public life anytime soon.

In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, the former frontman of The Police talked about the planned 2026 tour of his musical "The Last Ship," in which he plays shipyard superintendent Jackie White.

When asked if he was thinking about taking a break or slowing down, Sting jokingly admitted that the idea was not close to his heart.

"I love working. Could I retire? I'm not sure I could. I haven't developed the skill to just sit and do nothing. Maybe that's what scares me. I haven't prepared myself for it. But as long as I'm fit enough to work, I'll keep going. Hopefully, at some point I'll have enough objectivity to say, 'Okay, that's enough. Go and rest in the country,'" he said.

The musical The Last Ship was inspired by his childhood and experiences at the shipyard in Wallsend, England, and Sting wrote both the music and lyrics for this production.

Speaking about the transition from pop music to theater, the 74-year-old musician stressed that he has no regrets.

"I'm very grateful for my pop career and it was a certain period of my life, when I was a certain age, looked a certain way and made a certain kind of music. But it can't be my whole life. I don't want to be defined by who I was at 25. I'm 74 now," he added.
