Croatian singer Marko Tolja released a duet with Oliver Dragojević called "Ti si moja ljubav".
Although he had always dreamed of recording a duet with Oliver, life unexpectedly led him to collaborate with one of his greatest role models, whom he had the opportunity to meet at the beginning of his career.
"It's incredible how life sometimes surprises you. It's a huge privilege and happiness that I had the opportunity to meet my biggest idol Oliver at the very beginning of my career. I never thought that after that I would sing with him countless times and become close. I guess he saw in me a young singer who was close to him in sensibility and I will be eternally grateful to him for every opportunity," said Tolja, as reported by Jutarnji.
The singer revealed that the idea of a duet together had been around for a long time, but that the right song never arrived at the right time. It was only years later that a composition by Vinko Barčot appeared, on which Oliver's vocals had already been recorded, which paved the way for the project to finally be realized.
Tolja said that they wondered for a long time whether the project should even be realized, but in the end they decided to complete the song as a dedication to Oliver.
"I wondered for a long time whether we should even do it. However, Ante Gelo and I decided to try it, as another dedication to Oliver and everything we went through together. He made a new arrangement, we recorded everything and gave it to Oliver's family to listen to. To my great joy, they accepted it because they knew how much Oliver and I loved each other. I am still in disbelief that this duet happened and a huge thank you goes to everyone involved, and most of all to Oliver, who, even though he didn't know it, taught me everything I know about singing today," Tolja said.
Ante Gelo worked alongside Barčot, who wrote the music and lyrics, as well as the arrangement and production.
The video for the song was directed by Romano Nikolić.
