"Thievery Corporation" in early July in Nikšić

The iconic American collective Thievery Corporation will be performing in Montenegro for the first time, on July 8th at the Institute of Ferrous Metallurgy in Nikšić.

"As a UNESCO City of Music and European Capital of Culture, Nikšić will be the first European stop on the band's grand '30th Anniversary' jubilee tour, which has been one of the most important global electronic and downtempo collectives for three decades. The concert will be held in a unique natural setting behind the Institute of Ferrous Metallurgy, announcing the reactivation of industrial zones in Nikšić and the transformation of this part of the city into a creative and cultural hub, as part of one of the major projects of the European Capital of Culture - "Steel, Beer & Rock'n'Roll"," announced the Nikšić European Capital of Culture 2030 office.

The statement emphasizes that the number of seats for the concert is limited, and information about reservations will soon be available through the organizers' official channels.

They emphasize that the concert will be one of the most significant regional music spectacles in 2026, and a large number of visitors from Montenegro and neighboring countries are expected.

"In an environment where industrial heritage meets nature, the Trebjesa forest and open space, the Thievery Corporation concert symbolically announces a new phase in the musical and cultural life of Nikšić. Admission to the concert will be free, in the spirit of the great complementary action of the UNESCO Creative City and European Capital of Culture initiative, with mandatory prior reservation," the statement added.

Founded in 1995 in Washington, D.C., Thievery Corporation has built an authentic musical expression that blends dub, reggae, trip-hop, lounge, jazz, bossa nova, and global rhythms, creating a sound that blurs the boundaries between cultures, cities, and musical traditions.

"That is why their arrival symbolically corresponds to the concept of "Open City", on which the vision of Nikšić as the European Capital of Culture 2030 is based - a city open to diversity, new ideas, cultural encounters and contemporary creative practices. The entire day of the concert will be filled with accompanying activities, programs and discussions dedicated to the development and connection of the music sector in the city and Montenegro. This event represents one of the most significant international cultural programs within the path towards the title of European Capital of Culture 2030 and confirms Nikšić's ambition to become one of the most exciting new cultural centers in the region through culture, music and creative industries," the statement states.
