Canadian rapper Drake released his long-awaited album "Iceman" yesterday, as well as two more releases, "Habibti" and "Maid of Honour." In them, he gives fans an insight into his feelings regarding his highly publicized feud with Kendrick Lamar, and also addresses other personal topics close to his heart.
On the song "Make Them Cry," the opening track of the album "Iceman," Drake talks about the pressures of fame, money, expectations, and family relationships.
At the end of the introspective song, he reveals that his father, Dennis Graham, whom he already mentions in the opening verses, is suffering from cancer:
"My dad has cancer right now, we're going through different phases. Trust me when I say there are a lot of things I'd rather be dealing with."
Drake and his father previously had a complicated and difficult relationship, but in recent years they appear to have publicly ironed out their differences.
His parents - Sandy Graham and Dennis Graham - divorced when he was a child, and Drake has repeatedly spoken openly about how much his family circumstances influenced his childhood and music.
Other songs from the album "Iceman" were produced by his long-time collaborator Noa Šebib, better known as "40", along with producers such as Overkst and others.
The album also features collaborations with Future and new star Molly Santana.
“Iceman” is Drake’s ninth solo studio album and the first since his now-infamous public feud with Kendrick Lamar.
The album follows last year's collaborative R&B project with Partynextdoor, "Some Sexy Songs 4 U."
