Ariana Grande has launched a new foundation focused on supporting the LGBTQ+ community. The singer announced the establishment of the Brighter Days Ahead Foundation, which will support gay and trans rights, as well as provide mental health services to members of the LGBTQ+ community.
"Our mission is to support, protect, and provide resources for our vulnerable friends in need," Grande wrote in a statement posted on social media.
"Through four different funds we will support a number of incredible organizations that provide the safe space and care that so many people desperately need right now," she added.
The first fund is called the "Protect and Defend Fund" and, according to the foundation's official website, it supports local organizations that advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, civil rights, and reproductive justice, helping to create communities where people feel safe, supported, and have access to the help and resources they need.
The second fund is called the “Heal and Dream Fund” and aims to expand access to mental health services and community support, so that people feel seen, understood and have the opportunity to recover and thrive.
The third fund, the “Seen and Celebrated Fund,” is dedicated to amplifying the voices and stories of the LGBTQ+ community. Among the organizations that will receive support are Gender Liberation Movement, Glisten Rainbow Library, SAGE USA, TransLash, and Transanta.
The foundation was launched with the aim of providing concrete assistance to LGBTQ+ people through the protection of rights, support for mental health, and greater visibility of their experiences and stories.
