Amanda Seyfried learned to play an entire album for the film

Actress Amanda Seyfried has revealed that she learned to play the entire album "Blue" by music legend Joni Mitchell for a biopic that was ultimately canceled.

There has been talk for some time that Seyfried could play Mitchell on the big screen, and last year she received a lot of public support after performing a notable cover of the song "California" on Jimmy Fallon's show. However, the actress has now revealed that she was hired years earlier for another film project about Mitchell and that during the COVID-19 pandemic she learned to play the dulcimer, the instrument for which the singer is known.

"It was a movie about her and her manager, Eliot Roberts. Then he passed away, but not before I met him," the actress said.

Seyfried also visited Mitchell at her home, where the singer told her numerous stories from her life and played her iconic album "Blue."

"She said, 'We're going to put on the album and start a fire.' After we listened to it, she said, 'It's pretty stripped down, isn't it?'" the actress recalled.

During the period of isolation, she learned to play the entire album, and she experienced a particularly emotional moment when she finished the last song.

"The day I learned the last song on the album, 'The Last Time I Saw Richard,' I completely cried. I felt like a real musician, like I belonged in that world. I felt like I had planted my flag on top of a mountain. And believe me, it really was a mountain," she recalled.

However, the project never materialized. The later announced film by director Cameron Crowe is not the same project Seyfried was supposed to star in, although many fans urged the director to cast her in the lead role.

“Apparently a lot of people contacted Cameron Crowe and asked him, ‘What the hell are you doing?’” the actress said with a laugh.

"I don't know what he told them, but from what I know, his version of the story shows Johnny as a very young woman and then as an older woman," the actress added.

The cast of Crowe's film has not yet been officially confirmed. However, according to previous reports, Meryl Streep is in talks to play an older version of Joni Mitchell.
