Rihanna is working on new music

Rihanna is working on new music again, her partner A$AP Rocky revealed, according to American media.

The Barbadian singer hasn't released a new studio album since the 2016 release of "Anti," but that could soon change.

Appearing on "The Jason Lee Podcast," A$AP Rocky said that Rihanna is currently in the studio.

"Yeah, I said that. Sorry, honey," the rapper joked.

"Working hard, man. Seriously," he added.

Rocky, who has three children with Rihanna, then laughed and pointed out that he was "going to get in trouble for this."

However, he dismissed the possibility of the two of them recording an album together.

"I would hate Rocky and Rihanna if they did that - it would be ridiculous. Nobody wants to listen to us together. I make different, slightly unusual, alternative rap. My music is aimed at a specific audience that understands that," he stressed.

Over the past few years, Rihanna has repeatedly hinted at the direction her new album might take.

In February last year, she stated that the new release "will not be anything people expect."

"I've been in the studio for all these eight years," she told Harper's BAZAAR magazine.

"But the inspiration just wasn't coming. I was looking for the right sound. I went through different phases, thinking about one type of album, then giving up and moving in another direction," Rihanna admitted at the time, adding that the new album would be completely different from the audience's expectations.

"I know it won't be what anyone expects. It won't be commercial or radio-friendly. It will be exactly what my art deserves at this point. I feel like I've finally found the right path," she said.

At the same time, she denied rumors that she was preparing a reggae album.

"Totally wrong. I don't think in terms of genres anymore. That's exactly why I waited so long," Rihanna said.
