Irish alt rock/post punk band Fontaines DC have revealed details of their plans, confirming that their new album, "Dopamine Chamber," will be released on October 16th via XL Recordings.
News of the upcoming album arrived with the energetic lead single "Marianne," which was premiered live during their performance in Spain in early August.
According to a press release, "Dopamine Chamber" was produced by James Ford, who also worked with the band on their previous two albums — "Skinty Fia" and "Romance."
Recorded in London, the English countryside and Palermo, the album features a darker sound infused with electronic influences. Guitarist Connor Carley said the sonic shift and new influences were the band's attempt "to find things that point to the future".
The band stated that the lead single "Marianne" was partially inspired by the 2024 Netflix thriller series Ripley, which is an adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's novel "The Talented Mr. Ripley."
Dopamine Chamber is the fifth album by Fontaines DC, following Dogrel (2019), A Hero's Death (2020), Skinty Fia (2022) and Romance (2024). The latter was nominated for a Mercury Prize and won the band the BRIT Award for Best International Group in 2025.
The album also reached number two on the UK Official Albums Chart, and also became the group's first release to chart on the Billboard 200, where it peaked at number 97.
