Madonna leads MTV VMAs with 11 nominations

The nominations for this year's MTV VMA Awards have been announced, and Madonna is at the top of the list, with 11 nominations.

This year's ceremony will be held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 27, and will be broadcast live simultaneously on CBS and MTV, as well as on the Paramount+ platform.

The Queen of Pop received 11 nominations, including Video of the Year for "Confessions II - The Film," the visual project that accompanies her acclaimed latest studio album.

Madonna is nominated for both artist of the year and song of the year for her single "Bring Your Love," which she recorded with Sabrina Carpenter. Their song together is also nominated for best collaboration.

"Confessions II - The Film" also earned Madonna nominations for best dance song, direction, production design, cinematography, editing, choreography, and visual effects.

Taylor Swift follows with nine nominations, including artist of the year and video of the year for “The Fate Of Ophelia.” The single is also nominated in several other categories, while the video for “Opalite” is up for best direction.

Other nominees for Artist of the Year include Ariana Grande, Bruno Mars and Sabrina Carpenter. In the Song of the Year category, there are also BTS with their song "Swim", Olivia Dean with "Man I Need", Raye with "Where Is My Husband!" and others.

Harry Styles is nominated for Best Dance Song with the track "Aperture", while Charli XCX has two nominations - for Best Pop and Best Production Design, both for "SS26".

In the category of best alternative artist, Geese, Tame Impala, Olivia Rodrigo, Sombre and others are nominated.

If Swift wins at least one award, she will become the most successful artist in MTV VMAs history. She currently shares the record with Beyoncé, who has won 30 awards each.
