Throughout her career, Björk has pushed the boundaries of music and always insisted on remaining different, and among the artists who have shown her that such an approach is possible, Kate Bush holds a special place.
The Icelandic singer spoke of Bush as one of her heroines, highlighting her influence on music production and the fact that she is much more than just a singer.
"She's one of my heroines. She's the biggest pioneer in production," Bjork said.
Bjork particularly appreciated the fact that Bush began to push boundaries and build her own artistic expression at a very young age. As a teenager, she wrote hundreds of songs and achieved worldwide fame in 1978 with the hit "Wuthering Heights."
Although the two are often compared due to their unusual approach to music, Bjork never referred to Bush as competition. On the contrary, she considered her to be among the artists who had previously shown that it was possible to ignore audience expectations and create something completely their own.
Bush did this through a playful and experimental sound, while Bjork developed a more industrial and electronic expression, but they were connected by the same idea - that diversity can be the greatest artistic strength.
