Montenegrin band Bubnjivi & psi, consisting of Ivan Ivanović (vocals/guitar), Stefan Pantović (vocals/guitar), Mihailo Šaranović (bass guitar) and Marko Milonjić (drums), presented two new singles to the audience at the beginning of the year, "Buđenje" and "Ne okreći se", but the first song has only now received a studio version, as well as a video.

Meanwhile, the audience will have the opportunity to hear this band tonight at the Music & Hills festival in Podgorica, and the band's frontman Ivan Ivanović spoke to "Vijesti" about returning to the studio, as well as the "Boost the Music" project, within which he will hold a workshop for younger colleagues at the beginning of next week.

At the beginning of the interview, the musician explains why now was the right time for "Buđenje" to get a video, considering that the song, along with the single "Ne okreći se", was presented to the audience in February.

"As part of the Sounday live show, we then presented these two singles in a live version, because the concept of the show is a live session! Now the song is getting its studio form and announcing our EP release, which will include both of the aforementioned singles. There will also be the song 'Previše', with which we announced new material, as well as two new songs!", announced Ivanović.

"As for the moment for the video, it's always the best moment for a song to have a video when it's being aired, because it's simply a situation in which the song reaches the audience better and more easily," he believes.

When asked if it is sometimes good for a single not to be presented immediately with the video, but rather, as in this case, to somehow be presented to the audience twice, Ivanović says:

"Well, I partially answered you in my previous answer. I certainly think that the video has become necessary in a way. Radio is listened to, but unfortunately it is marginalized in comparison to television and social networks. So, if you want the song to reach the audience, you, because of TV and social networks, have to offer a visual identity for the song that people connect with."

Considering that the video for "Buđenje" will premiere after the pages of the printed edition of "Vijesti" are closed, the musician also hints at what they have prepared this time.

"The video follows the theme of the song very well, both its lyrics and message in a broader sense and energetically," he describes, and then reveals how much he and his colleagues from Bubnjivi & psi participated in creating the video.

"The initial idea was mine in the simplest possible form, and the director later elaborated on it a lot. There was a good energy on set and I think the whole crew had fun," he replies.

Asked how difficult it is to come up with a story for a screenplay today, given that in a way "everything has already been seen", Ivanovic sums up the answer with the words: "To be honest, it's very difficult for me."

"I often emphasize that I don't have much talent for visual arts, so I happily leave that to people who experience it the way I experience music! In the end, I somehow know what I wouldn't want to see in a video, so I take a little guidance and in the end we get a product that everyone is happy with," he explains.

"Of course, there is also the inevitable story of the budget for the video material, which largely determines its quality and the realization of what someone has imagined. So I think that in all of our videos, in relation to the aforementioned, we get the most out of it," concludes the musician, and lists the members of the team that was in charge of filming their song this time.

"The team is the same as for the previous video 'Previše', Milo Bešović - director, Milosav Rutović - director of photography and Andrija Raičević - color correction. I would certainly like to take this opportunity to thank PAM and the Secretariat for Culture of the Capital City, without whom this would not have been possible. Also, many thanks to the Podgorica City Theater, which wholeheartedly gave us the space for filming," shared the interlocutor of "Vijesti".

And while the new video was being prepared, Bubnjivi & psi also socialized with the audience during their performances, but as Ivanović says, the gigs will not end with the end of the summer, although they plan to return to the studio.

"Tonight we're playing at the Music and Hills festival and I hope there will be more gigs by the end of the year, but the plan is definitely for the studio to be dominantly present, because by the end of the year we have to fulfill our promise and release our EP with two more videos," announced the musician, who also finds time to pass on some of his knowledge to his younger colleagues.

On Monday, as part of the "Boost the Music" project implemented by the NGO Kružni tok, members of the bands Kimera, Lavirint, Paradigma and Sparina, as well as hip-hop artists Palinko & Daxonaldo and Đekna, will hold a lecture dedicated to the sound system for live performances.

"Dragan Dubljević invited me to be part of the project and hold a workshop on band sound reinforcement and live mixing within the framework of the Kružni tok Cultural Center and the great things that are happening there. I hope that young people who are interested in this topic will come and that I will be able to convey some of my experience to them in the right way," he said, emphasizing the importance of such projects that strengthen, but also rejuvenate, the Montenegrin music scene.

"Such initiatives and projects are crucial for the development of young people. First, in relation to the skills they acquire at such events, and second, connecting with people with the same interests. Such things are a quiet, but very important and concrete initiative that builds stability and gives space to young people in the long term," said Ivanović.
