Alter Bridge frontman Miles Kennedy says he would "absolutely refuse" to use artificial intelligence to help him write songs.

The musician pointed out that there is nothing better than creating a good song and that he does not want to cheat by allowing artificial intelligence to help him write.

Speaking on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk," Kennedy pointed out that by using artificial intelligence, applications are going all over the internet and taking other people's work.

"Is that what you're going to base your work on? AI is your collaborator now? I've been writing for the last ten weeks, just because I had some free time, and there's nothing I love more than writing. Nothing. So why would I deny myself the joy of that great search for a solution? That's how I look at it. You're trying to solve a problem, you find the pieces, you navigate through it all, and when you finally find what you're looking for, it feels like you've found gold. There's nothing better in terms of the satisfaction you get from it. So why would I deny myself that feeling by using AI to come up with a finished poem in an afternoon? I guess I'm a bit old-fashioned," Kennedy pointed out.

He emphasized that he is aware that there are authors who are helped by AI in their writing, and that they are creating more music as a result.

"If it works for them, kudos. But I'm not involved in that," he adds.

Kennedy, who has written songs for Alter Bridge as well as Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash, finds the songwriting process "incredibly fascinating" and "very obsessive," and says he would be "lost" without it.

"For me, there's no question about it. I've had a really great career. I guess I'm known as a singer and all that, but I'm a musician first and foremost, and I think that's what's helped me with all the projects I've been involved in. The need, whatever it is, to keep creating new songs. And the way I do it, my wife Selena can tell you, is a little crazy. I'm very obsessive. When I open that door, I don't leave that world for a long time. I tell myself that it's probably not healthy for me, because I don't sleep very well and I'm constantly on guard, waiting for the next idea to come to me. And a lot of times that happens when you're in some weird state between sleep and wakefulness. But I don't know. That's all I've known for, for God's sake, over 30 years," Kennedy concludes.
