Montenegrin singer Marija Božović, who performs under the pseudonym Maria B, recorded and announced the new song "Standing Still" via the social network Facebook. In an interview with "Vijesti", she revealed that her new single will be released in a week.
She explained that "Standing Still" will be part of an EP planned as a result of her Indiegogo campaign last year. It was the first case that a Montenegrin musician collected funds for his release through this otherwise world-famous and increasingly popular platform.
Her original goal at the time was to collect 22 thousand euros for the album, but the audience, unaccustomed to such campaigns, donated only two thousand, so Marija changed her plan and decided on a smaller edition.
"'Standing Still' is one of the songs that was made during the campaign. There is also a teaser (announcement) for it that I will post on the YouTube service these days. Unlike my other songs, the song is quite slow, it has a lot of electronics, some like trip hop, for example. The music and arrangements were done by Rhino, and I did the singing and of course the lyrics," said Božović, who usually writes the lyrics for all her songs.
It was in Rhino's studio that the song was recorded, and the rapper and producer from Podgorica, who often collaborates with Božović and the Boke rap duo Who See, signed both the mix and mastering.
In her Facebook announcement of the song, the singer also revealed part of the text: "It's dark where we're standing, no shadows behind/No one can see us, there's no need to hide/Time could stay still, if we want it to be/ The night and this song, that is you and me...".
"It's a love song. Forbidden love, curses and so on," the singer explained with a laugh.
She said that "Standing Still" will be released only in audio format, without an accompanying music video.
"I'd rather release a song as soon as possible, than wait another two years while I collect money for a music video. (laughs) Let this song come out, then there will be one more, so maybe eventually I'll record some kind of video for it, I'll see," Božović thinks aloud. .
Last year, she announced that she would use the money raised through the Indiegogo campaign to record several songs for the EP and possibly a music video. The title of the EP is the same as the name of the first single "Determination", released four months ago, and a month ago Marija gave the audience the song "Above All", which she did in collaboration with the now defunct Podgorica trip hop band Deep Thoughts.
