Croatian singer Lea Mijatović officially left the band "Teška industrija" three months ago, and now she is promoting her first independent single and music video. The track in question is "You are the only one who knows", which is signed by the author team "DeciBel studio", Igor Ivanović and Marko Vojvodić.
Unlike the "Heavy Industry" tracks, which were mostly in a rock style, the new single presented a more gentle and sensitive Lea, and was made in the pop genre.
"That stylistic turn happened completely spontaneously," Mijatović told "Vijesti", explaining that the authors of her first solo song were responsible for it.
As she says, she didn't just make a stylistic shift in music, but also when it comes to styling, and she had a great team behind her.
"Despite the fact that the song is wistful, it carries a dose of positivity. We gave a lot while shooting the video, because we tried to convey the emotion in the best possible way. Filming was hard, we worked for seven days in seven different locations, we were everywhere, even under water, so at one point I had the impression that we were shooting a film", joked Lea, whose first video was also made by the studio "DeciBel".
And studiously and for a long time, she not only recorded the music video, but prepared the first single in the same way.
"The preparations took three months, and that's how long it has been since I officially left the band, to which I was fully committed until I left. I don't like musical collaborations, comparative careers, but I like to be fully committed to the project I'm working on. I wasn't in a hurry, because the song is important, and, well, everything happened on my 30th birthday, and I think this is a good start to the year, but also a turning point in my career," Mijatović believes.
As she says, she is satisfied with the reactions to the new single, so she hopes that what she will do in the future will also be followed by an audience that is not so close to the sound of "Heavy Industry". She remained on good terms with the members of that band, and she wanted a solo career because, as she says, she is already "entering more serious years".
"I have really wonderful memories from my time working in the band. There were so many beautiful moments, concerts, tours, however, as I'm already entering my thirties, I wanted to express myself differently musically and I'm grateful to the other members for giving me a chance and supporting me in my intention to start a solo career", says Mijatović.
Before the New Year holidays, her former band released a single with a new singer, and Mijatović liked the track "Pratim te u stopo".
"I absolutely support them and they support me. From the background, we applaud each other and give strength to continue. The new singer Maja is beautiful and I think she coped very well in her new role", she believes.
She plans to promote a single, and she is working hard on new songs.
"I gathered a band that accompanied me on the promotion of the single, and we have a new gig already this weekend. I love this job precisely because of that "field work", so I especially look forward to every interaction with the audience", concludes Mijatović.
The fact that she has changed her sound does not mean that she will remain faithful to the pop style.
"I like to listen to music and I don't like to divide it into genres. In Teška industria, I sang harder rock songs, but we also had several collaborations with tambura players. I think the most important thing is to have a good song that will find its way to the audience. I'm sure that in the future I will also do dance numbers with an electronic background, but also ones with a tighter rhythm. Everything depends on how I feel," explains Mijatović.
Her solo career brought her more responsibility, because she used to "share the work" with her bandmates, but she says that doesn't bother her.
"Now all this is a new dimension, but I say again, it would be difficult for me to achieve everything if I didn't have a great team behind me to help me, so I enjoy the new situation", she explains.
