Young Hollywood actress Millie Bobby Brown has expressed her desire to portray pop princess Britney Spears on the big screen, but she stressed that it is still the singer's life and "it's hers to tell that story."
The actress best known for her role in the series "The Stranger Things" first mentioned her desire back in 2022.
"I want to play a real person and I think for me that's Britney," she said at the time.
"I think her story, first of all, is very similar to mine. Just growing up in the public eye, watching her videos and interviews when she was much younger...", explained Bobbi Brown, who herself became famous around the world as a little girl.
"I feel like I could tell her story the right way," the actress added at the time, but Spears reacted very quickly.
"I hear some people would like to play me in a movie about my life... I'm not dead," the singer wrote on social media.
It seems that Bobbi Brown isn't giving up, as she touched on this topic in a new interview with Access Hollywood.
"She's an absolute icon. I would love more than anything to be a part of her story. But it's her story and she decides how that story will be told," the actress said.
Last summer, Universal Pictures confirmed that Britney Spears' memoir "The Woman In Me" was the best basis for a new biopic about the pop star, with John M. Chu set to direct the project.
"I think this story says a lot about how we treat people, young people, stars that we think we own... women, mothers. I can't say much about this project, except that I've been a huge Britney fan for many years. She represents a generation of people who grew up in the late '90s and early 2000s. Her story deserves to be told properly," Chu commented at the time.
On the other hand, Spears confused fans when she hinted two years ago that the "secret project" she was working on with this director was not a biography, but a "fictional musical."
