As part of this year's spring edition of Montenegro Fashion Week, which will be held from April 7th to 12th at several locations in Podgorica, a Montenegrin fashion designer will present her new collection. Ivana Murišić.
This time, Murišić has united her creations under the name "Revival", and as she explains in an interview with "Vijesti" on this occasion, "the very name of the collection speaks of the merging of tradition and the present time."
"The collection has a strict theme, it is not tied to time frames or trendy fashion trends. The collection is timeless and the goal was to create models that connect the past and the present, with touches that allude to the future," she hints.
"The collection is inspired by the motifs of traditional Montenegrin costumes, as well as the forms and silhouettes that are represented in our costumes," Murišić continues, emphasizing that the collection was supported by the Ministry of Culture, and that it was conceptually created within the "Creative Montenegro" project.
"My idea was based on the desire to incorporate motifs from our costumes into something that is wearable, and as such, give it a new dimension," says the fashion designer.
When it comes to the materials she used, she says, they are plush, silk, and brocade, and the predominant colors are burgundy, red, green, and gold.
"I tried to make the materials complete the image of the collection and approach the idea with their texture," emphasizes the interviewee of "Vijesti", whose collection included clothing items for both women and men.
"The models are intended for all women as well as men who love unique embroidery and tradition. I must admit that the forms are very specific and that such models require courage," she adds, revealing how long she worked on the "Revival" collection.
"The entire collection is handmade. For embroidery, you first had to invest time in the graphic design, and then in the application on the material. Then comes the tailoring of the model, and then the sewing. It is a process that requires time and effort. I worked on the collection for a year with breaks due to my heavy involvement in working with clients in the studio," she admits.
When asked how much she follows global trends when creating her collection, and whether she has implemented any of the current trends in "Revival", she says:

"I like to follow fashion trends, but this time I didn't implement them in my collection. The collection was created solely to realize my imagination and my vision, without any expectations that it must be in line with trends and that it must appeal to the wider public."
When it comes to the life of the collection after Montenegrin Fashion Week, Murišić says that she is currently focused on presenting the collection in Montenegro.
"Currently, the idea is to present it in Montenegro, and we'll see about its further development in the process," the fashion designer answers.
