Famous musician, writer and artist Nick Cave will receive an honorary doctorate from the Royal College of Art in London, one of the world's most prestigious universities for art and design. The ceremony will take place at the Royal Festival Hall on Tuesday, September 23.
This honorary title is awarded annually to distinguished individuals who have made a profound impact on the arts, culture and society through their work. According to the official statement, honorary doctorates and honorary memberships represent the highest honors that the RCA can bestow, and testify to the exceptional achievements of the laureates.
Cave will receive the award during a graduation ceremony along with more than 1.000 students who will graduate this year in the fields of design and communications.
Cave and his band's current 18th studio album, "Wild God," has received rave reviews and confirmed their status as one of the most influential in contemporary music. In parallel, Cave is also engaged in numerous other projects, is currently on a European solo tour, and together with Warren Ellis is working on the music for the TV adaptation of his novel “The Death Of Bunny Munro”.
