English actor Jonathan Bailey, who returns to the big screen this month in the musical "Wicked: For Good," has been named this year's "Sexiest Man Alive" by People magazine.
Bailey, 37, said it was a "huge honor" and that he was honored to be on the list alongside stars like Chris Hemsworth and George Clooney, who have previously received the same award.
"Of course, I'm very flattered. And it's completely absurd," Bailey told People with a laugh. He added jokingly that he only shared the news with his dog, Benson.
The casting of Bailey, who is also known for his role as Lord Anthony in the popular costume drama "Bridgerton," was announced on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Reuters reports.
Bailey played Prince Fiore in last year's hit film "Wicked," a prequel to the cult classic "The Wizard of Oz," and will reprise the role in the upcoming sequel "Wicked: For Good." The actor also appeared in the dinosaur film "Jurassic World: Rebirth" this summer.
"The Office" actor John Krasinski was named "Sexiest Man Alive" in 2024.
Other actors and singers who have previously received this accolade from People magazine's editors include Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Idris Elba and Channing Tatum.
