A guitar owned by Black Sabbath musician Tony Ijomi has been sold at auction, raising £53.000 for a charity that helps cancer patients.
The 77-year-old musician donated the instrument to the Heartlands Hospital Charity in his hometown of Birmingham, after the organization announced a campaign to build a new, state-of-the-art Haematology and Oncology Centre for cancer patients.
Toni, who beat the disease himself after being diagnosed with lymphoma in 2012, thanked fans for their support.
"It would be great if other people would donate and support, so that patients get the help they need. In December we had a Heartlands Hospital guitar auction for their cancer ward, and I'm pleased to say that it raised £53.000, which is incredible, thanks to you," Ijomi said.
The guitar will be delivered to the new owner in the United States.
