Marilyn Manson's former assistant has re-opened her sexual assault lawsuit against the controversial rock musician.

Ashley Walters first filed a lawsuit against Manson in 2021, then it was dismissed, then re-filed on appeal, and in December 2025 it was dismissed again because it was deemed statute-barred.

However, the case was revived on Monday when Judge Steve Cochran decided to reopen it due to a new law in California, Billboard reports.

The law, which came into effect on January 1, allows victims of sexual abuse to file lawsuits within two years that would otherwise be rejected due to the statute of limitations.

Judge Cochran assessed that the new legal deadline allows her to reopen the case, although it was previously dismissed due to the expiration of the time limit, and the lawsuit states that Manson carried out "sexual exploitation, manipulation and psychological abuse" against her from 2010 to 2011.

"The motion for reconsideration filed by Ashley Waters on January 7, 2026, is granted. The law revives the claim. The Court orders that the earlier decision of dismissal dated December 16 be reversed," the brief court order states.

Walters' lawyers said they were "thrilled" by the decision, and the next court date is scheduled for March.
