Actress Whoopi Goldberg is not looking for a man. The 70-year-old EGOT award winner has been single for some time and has no intention of changing that anytime soon.
"Over the last 25 years, I've realized that not everyone is made for a relationship. Some people are just made for one night," Goldberg said, reflecting on her single status.
"I don't want to live with anyone. I lived with my daughter. That's all I can handle. I have a lot of people I love, but I don't need them to live with me. I don't even need to sleep with them," she added.
Goldberg, who has been married three times, first to Alvin Martin (1973-1979), with whom she has a daughter, then to David Claessen (1986-1988), and finally to Lyle Trachtenberg (1994-1995), frankly admits that she is "not good at relationships."
"You have to think about other people, and I already have enough to worry about with my daughter, her husband, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and everyone at work," Goldberg explained.
Goldberg also explained that, although she is single, she does not feel lonely.
"I don't necessarily feel lonely because I have enough people around me who don't let me. But most people aren't comfortable being alone, because we're taught that there's something wrong with not being in a couple, that being alone, eating alone, isn't good," Goldberg continued.
The host of The View has long spoken openly about how happy she is with her single life and that she doesn't want to change her status.
"People always say, 'Well, you'll find someone.' I'm not looking for anyone. I'm very happy. I don't want to live with anyone," she said on The Tamron Hall Show in 2019.
