The wife of Evan Dundee, frontman of the band "The Lemonheads," Antonio Teixeira, has spoken out about his "mental breakdown" during the filming of the canceled "Tiny Desk" episode.
Dando is currently undergoing treatment after being accused of sending an unsolicited explicit video to a female fan.
Teixeira said Dando had struggled with alcohol and prescription drug abuse during their five-year relationship. His latest mental breakdown began a few weeks before his hospitalization, while they were traveling from Sao Paulo to New York for the band's appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon."
The problems continued when they returned to Brazil, as the musician was simultaneously consuming large amounts of Adderall, THC, and mushrooms. Teixeira gave him an ultimatum - "either finish treatment, or I'll file for divorce."
Dando, she said, is "very ashamed" of his behavior and is working on recovery.
"This is the second phase of his recovery. He is taking responsibility for his actions and trying to be better, instead of blaming others. I am very optimistic that things will get better," she said.
In 2025, The Lemonheads released their first original album in 19 years, 'Love Chant', while Dando also released a memoir, Rumours of My Demise, in which he details his struggles with substance abuse and mental health.
