"Euphoria" creator donates $27 to Eric Dane's family

Actor Eric Dane, known for his roles in the series "Euphoria" and "Grey's Anatomy", died on Thursday, February 19, after, as his family stated, "a courageous battle with ALS", and a GoFundMe campaign was soon launched to raise money for the daughters he left behind, reports NME magazine.

"Euphoria" creator Sam Levinson has donated $27 to a GoFundMe campaign set up to support the late actor's children. He made the donation along with his wife, Ashley Levinson.

The campaign was launched by Dane's friend Mike McGinnis, noting that "COVID and ALS have had a severe impact on the actor's professional life, and unfortunately he has not been able to provide his family with the security he wanted."

The donation page states that, despite his deteriorating health, Dane remained committed to helping others facing the same illness.

"As the disease progressed much faster than anyone could have imagined, Erik's friends came together to start this GoFundMe to support his girls and their future needs," the campaign description reads.

The goal is to raise half a million dollars, and so far just under $350 has been donated.

Following the news of his death, Levinson stated:

"I am heartbroken over the loss of our dear friend. Working with him was an honor. Being his friend was a gift."

Dane played Cal Jacobs, the father of Nate Jacobs, played by Jacob Elordi, on the series "Euphoria." His representative confirmed to People magazine that the actor had filmed episodes of the upcoming third season before his death.
