American singer Pink will host the 79th annual Tony Awards on June 7 at Radio City Music Hall in New York, the Tony Award Productions organization announced.

The ceremony will be broadcast live on CBS, and the broadcast will also be available on the Paramount Plus platform.

Calling it "the honor of a lifetime," the three-time Grammy winner said Broadway had a strong influence on her career, Reuters reports.

"It has shaped the way I create my own shows," Pink said in a press release. "Broadway is supportive, inclusive, and full of talent and love. These people create magic every day, and I can't wait to celebrate them with the world."

Although she has never performed on Broadway, her music is currently being used in two successful productions: "Moulin Rouge! The Musical," which includes her song "Raise Your Glass," as well as "& Juliet," which features her song "F**kin' Perfect."

Tony Award executive producers Raj Kapoor, Sarah Levin Hall and Jack Susman said Pink was a natural choice.

"She embodies the very spirit of live performance and theater," they stated, highlighting her authenticity, stage presence, and powerful voice.

The singer, who is 46, is considered a pop icon, with one Emmy Award, seven MTV Video Music Awards - including the 2017 Vanguard Award - and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Established in 1947, the Tony Awards recognize excellence on Broadway and are organized by Tony Award Productions, a joint project of the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League.
